Computer & Network Cabling Done Right

At SCS, we know that infrastructure is the central nervous system of your local area network (LAN). The proper installation of the cabling structure is essential for ensuring peak performance. That's why we design, install, move, and add to structured cabling systems for a wide range of clients.

Reliable Infrastructure

Modern buildings require an effective telecommunications infrastructure to support the wide variety of services that rely on the electronic transport of information. This infrastructure can be thought of as the collection of components — including support systems, cable pathways, grounding, wiring, and termination hardware — that supports the distribution of all information within a local area network (LAN).

SCS installers have been trained and certified by Ortronics to install all types of cabling. The Ortronics product line is one of the most flexible offered in the telecommunications industry. In our estimation, the Ortronics open system architecture produces the building blocks of a strong and adaptable network foundation. Product families include:

  • Fiber Optics
  • Information Management Outlets
  • 110 Cross-Connections
  • Cable Management Systems
  • Patch Panels
  • Media Converters
  • Surface Raceway Products
  • And More

Data Traffic

A structured cabling system for supporting data traffic utilizes a 568B-wiring scheme defined under the Telecommunications Standards 568A. The industry standard for connectivity is Category 6, 4 pair cable with transmission characteristics that are specified up to 550 megahertz. These are typically used for data transmission rates up to 1 gigabit per second.

Voice Traffic

A structured cabling system for supporting voice traffic typically utilizes the uniform service order code (USOC) wiring scheme and a 568B-wiring scheme defined under the Telecommunications Standards 568A. The industry standard for connectivity is category 5e, 4 pair cable with transmission characteristics that are specified up to 350 Megahertz. These cables are typically used for data transmission rates up to 100Mbps (Mbps = megabits (millions of bits) per second).
